There are several items that we would urge you to bring to your car service to ensure a smooth experience. These include the alloy wheel keys or locking nuts that will allow us to remove your vehicle’s wheels, so that we can scrutinise the condition of the steering and suspension systems.
We also ask that you arrive at our Southend-on-Sea garage with an empty car boot. This will enable us to more quickly and easily inspect the condition and tread depth of your vehicle’s spare tyre, which is normally located under the boot.
Finally, you should ensure you have your service book with you on arrival at Reynolds RMGMOT. Our mechanics will require this in order to ascertain when your vehicle last had certain items replaced, such as its brake fluid, spark plugs and cabin filters. Your service book will then be stamped once we have completed the service.
In addition, please make sure your car has a valid MOT certificate, given that a road test is also included in a vehicle service with us.

The type of service that you should select will depend on such factors as the length of time since your vehicle’s last service, and what kind of service your car last had.
If, for example, your last annual service was a Full service, we would strongly advise you to book a Major service next. This is due to our Major service not only covering all areas of essential maintenance included in our Full and Interim services, but also items that are regularly replaced in vehicles every two years, such as the hydraulic fluid and cabin filter.
If, meanwhile, your most recent annual service was a Major service, we would recommend that you request a Full service next, as this is a service consisting of more than 76 checks of your vehicle’s essential elements.
Finally, our Interim service is – as its name implies – a service that you may consider every six months, additional to a Full or Major service. This service may be particularly suitable if you are a high-mileage driver, given that the resultant heightened wear and tear may necessitate your vehicle being checked more frequently.
A service entails your car being checked – recommended at regular intervals – to ascertain its condition and roadworthiness. It differs from an MOT in that it is not a legal requirement; it also typically involves a more in-depth mechanical assessment of the vehicle than an MOT test.
An MOT test, by contrast, is required every year by law, for cars that are more than three years old. An MOT essentially takes the form of a visual inspection of a vehicle, focusing on the condition of such key parts as the brakes and lights, and the tread of the tyres. The aim is to assess whether the vehicle meets the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)’s minimum road safety requirements.
